Classic Council Road
A classic blend of hymns and choruses with choir and orchestra
Worship that reflects new styles and artist
A graduate of Oklahoma City University with a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music, Norman came to Council Road as a young man and planned on staying eight months. Forty-one years later, he is still serving in the church that God called him to as a senior in college.
The journey for Norman started when he accepted Christ as Savior. That decision has influenced every part of his life since that life-changing moment. Norman’s ministry at Council Road has been joyous in serving in many different capacities. He has served in the music ministry, youth, college, and single’s ministries throughout his time at Council Road. The diversity of ministries has equipped Norman to now serve on the Executive Team as Ministry Strategist. He helps new staff members and mentors young men and women in the ministry in addition to planning and leading the traditional services and training and leading our Deacon Ministry teams.
Norman loves all racket sports, and he and his wife, Denise, love investing time into their six grandchildren with God’s love.
Through a smile, relationship, and an invitation, Cody found himself sitting in a Baptist church pew at the age of eight. After several years of learning about a man named Jesus and the sacrifice He made, Cody stepped out on faith during a Sunday morning worship service and received Jesus as his Savior. The song playing at that moment was, "I Have Decided to Follow Jesus". Cody had no idea of the journey God would bring him on, or that one day God would use him to lead that song in the hope that others would come to know Christ through faith.
Cody has spent the last five years in full-time travel ministry covering a majority of the central part of the U.S., as well as some events a little bit further from his motherland of Oklahoma. Youth camps, student weekends, revivals, conferences and state convention events have become a part of his journey and passion to lead others to Christ through the gift of song. While on the road, Cody had the opportunity to lead a student event at Council Road and fell in love with the people and the heartbeat of the church. In the fall of 2012, Cody came on staff full-time as Worship Leader. Cody, his wife Penny, and their two dogs, Kyser and Christian, have moved to the northwest side of Oklahoma City, and are looking forward to building their faith along with their new church family. Cody and Penny enjoy walking their dogs, taking their dogs to the dog park, hosting dog birthday parties, shopping for new dog clothes and attending community-wide dog events. Did we mention that Cody and Penny love their dogs?
Beth is from Louisiana, home of beautiful plantations, zydeco music and Cajun food. She is an avid New Orleans Saints’ fan and recently got to see them in person at a game in the Super Dome…check that off of the “Bucket List”.
She received her Associate Degree in Business Administration before joining the military. A transplant with the United States Air Force, she relocated to Oklahoma City in 1996 and loves being a part of this great city.
She began ministry at Council Road in March of 1998 and has served in the Singles/University Ministry and Student Ministry. Currently she serves as Production Director on the Arts Team, overseeing worship services, special services and a large team of incredible volunteers. She loves being able to work at a church where she can use her God-given talents to draw people closer to God.
She cherishes spending time with her grandchildren, Kylee, Emma and Gabriel. Being "BB" is one of her biggest joys and she looks forward to many more little ones to spoil.
Hester was born in Ft. Belvoir, Virginia, and was a self-proclaimed Navy brat growing up. After living three years in Guam, her family moved to Oklahoma. She graduated from Putnam City West High School, and then attended UCO before marrying her husband, David. They are parents to Eli James, who was the best surprise of all in 2006.
Hester works as a Ministry Strategist / Arts Team Coordinator and enjoys planning, organizing and managing all the details in these ministries. Her hobbies include crafting, singing and cooking. Hester has always loved serving and enjoys caring for people. She says using music as a language of God's love for those who are hurting is one of the best ways God has purposed the Arts Ministry.
She was raised in a Christian home as a Music Minister's child and asked Jesus into her heart as an eight-year-old. The words from a song, "I took Jesus as my Savior, you take him too", took a personal meaning in her life. She continues to seek God's will in her life’s walk and is grateful to her family for planting Christian roots in her life.
